Governance & Accountability

The CO-LAB for Future Economics is a Vienna-based nonprofit organization, operating under Austrian law. We also operate as COLAB for Future Economics as a South-African-based nonprofit company (NPC). The CO-LABs sustain the field work under the name of What Matters.

Our governance is anchored through formal Governance Frameworks designed to protect mission integrity, community trust, and long-term regenerative impact.

Each legal entity operates under an adapted governance structure appropriate to its jurisdiction and organisational form, while remaining aligned in philosophy, ethical standards, and decision-making principles.

Our governance model is:

➝ Community-anchored in decision-making
➝ Donor-aware but donor-independent
➝ Guided by applicable legal frameworks (including the South African NPO Act and the principles of King IV)
➝ Supported by clear policies on ethics, conflicts of interest, financial management, risk, and partnerships
